What is FileConv?
File Conv is a set of utility classes that load from and write to various file
formats. The FileConv classes can be used by other 3D
applications like games and 3D modeling tools to load and save files of various
formats. An executable program that will accompany these classes will act as a
converter utility (the only one thatís cross-platform), so that people using
different 3D applications can collaborate on the same project without
difficulty. That means that if your a 3d artist who is really good at using Lightwave and you have a friend who can't get Lightwave cause he's too poor and
is stuck with using Anim8or(which is still a good program), then you both can
work on a project together anyway cause you have FileConv!

The formats that will be supported in the next version are in the

Who created FileConv?
What File Formats does FileConv support?
What File Formats does FileConv plan to support?
Can you support this file format that I use?
FileConv is not working. What do I do?
I loaded a model but I don't see anything. What's wrong?
Why is the Lightwave file I created with FileConv not working?
These classes are great! I want to use them in my 3d app. Do I have to pay you
to use it?
There's no answer for my question here. What do I do?
Formats that will eventually be supported are in the
project specs page.
post a message in the forum saying which format you'd like to be
supported and a link to the format specs file (if you don't have file specs, you
can still post, I'll search for it myself).
You need Java Virtual Machine. The best one is available for free from sun at
Then follow the instructions on the Running Fc page.
Nothing. There is no viewer for FileConv yet, but it'll be there by v0.2. Just
There's a bug. I'm fixing it. Just wait for a few days!!
No! These classes are released under GNU, so you can use them anyway you want
without saying a word about me. But it would be nice if you told me that you're
using it in your program... and possibly list me in the credits!. I am
post a message in the forums.
